Fwd: Sympathies of the Parish extended to Mary Gillette and family

<div>
 I learned this morning that Rev. Howard Gillette died yesterday (June 15) after a lengthy battle with cancer.  He and his wife, Mary, have been living in Pennsylvania these past few years, where Howard served two Episcopal churches.  When I first arrived at St. Matthew's in 2004, Howard served our congregation as a deacon.  He was also a volunteer chaplain with the NOPD.  He and Mary then moved to New York, where he earned his Masters of Divinity at General Seminary, and was later ordained priest, and served in Pennsylvania for about 5 years.

 Howard was a kind and generous soul.  He loved the Church and he loved the Lord.  He called me just a couple of months ago to check on me, and to inquire how St. Matthew's was faring with the quarantines.  His kindness and thoughtfulness blessed many over the years.  May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

 I ask your prayers for his wife, Mary, who has been so supportive and so integral to his ministry in the church.  May she be comforted and strengthened to meet the days ahead.
