Fwd: Sunday April 19 Chapel

:

It’s Sunday morning, April 19,  and I hope this finds all of you doing well.  Below is a link which will take you to this week’s chapel service.  This is a modified version of our weekly Day School chapel service.  I’m sending this out to both our church and school families since I’ve learned the ‘big kids’ like the children’s sermons as much or more than the ones for adults!  So my prayer is this will help brighten your day and help us feel a little more connected to our wonderful church and school home.

The window I’ll be reflecting on is the one depicting the “Miraculous Catch of Fish.”  It’s based on the text found in Luke 5.  A similar account is given in John 21.  John’s account is actually set in the context of Jesus’ 2nd appearance to the disciples following his resurrection.  So this window is particularly appropriate to contemplate during Easter season.  You’ll remember the story ends with Jesus having fresh fish for breakfast on the beach with the disciples.  Just fabulous! Here follows the link:

By the way, it is our custom to return our United Thank Offering boxes each year as part of our Easter celebration.  This year I encourage you to send a check by US Post, since we are not able to return the boxes of coins/money.  Also, if you’ve not already done so, you can mail in your pledge commitments and offerings to the same address, provided of course your financial situation makes it possible to do so.

Finally, just a reminder that you can access Morning & Evening Prayer at www.missionstclare.com.  This is a great resource for praying the ‘Daily Office” as it’s called.  All of the appointed prayers and readings for each day are provided, as well as hymns.  If you have the St. Matthew’s Church App, there is a link to this site as well.  Jennifer and I will be headed to the church in a little while to pray the office.  We do this each Sunday morning, and then we ring the bell.  Please know ya’ll are in our thoughts and prayers.  I so look forward to our being able to worship together again sometime soon!  Meanwhile I know we are together in spirit if not in body!

Blessings and peace,
Craig
