Fwd: Enjoy this week’s Chapel video—Parable of the Sower (5.3.20)

I hope this email finds you well.  As I'm sure you already know, Bishop Thompson has extended “virtual church” through at least May 15, consistent with Governor Edwards' extension of the stay-at-home order.  Your vestry and I met via Zoom a few days ago and the consensus is we shall return to our worship space when it is determined that we can safely celebrate and receive Holy Communion.  This is not likely to be the case in the so-called 'Phase I' of reopening.  In Phase I, there must be only 25% of seating capacity, social distancing, facial masks, no nursery, no communion, no coffee (ouch!), no congregational singing, no choir.  So instead of that route, we will continue to create these videos each week.  Once we are back in the church, we will record the service so that those among us who cannot yet safely return may go to the website and see a recorded version of our worship service.
Meanwhile I encourage you to take full advantage of 'Faith Resources” available through our St. Matthew's App.  Also, the liturgy of Morning and Evening Prayer is available every day through our Church App.  If you don't have the St. Matthew's App, you can find the same resource at www.missionstclare.com.  There are appointed scripture lessons, psalms, and prayers for each day as well as pre-recorded hymns.
I got a call today from a parishioner making sure she had the correct mailing address for the church, so she can mail in her pledge donation.  I was so touched she realized how very important this is to our ongoing operation, and am grateful for her faithful support.  If there are others who would like to mail in their pledge, the address is as follows:  St. Matthew's Episcopal Church; PO Box 568, Houma, LA  70361.  You can also donate electronically by credit card or Paypal via the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church website:  www.stmatthewshouma.org.  You’ll want to click on the tab that says “Support SME Missions”; it will take you to the screen that allows you to donate electronically.  Another route which some prefer is to set up an automatic bank draft with their bank.  If you have any questions at all or need help, feel free to contact Ms. Erica Polk (ppolkjr@comast.net).
If you decide to check out our website, please note that if you click on “Craig’s Corner” you can access prior weekly window reflections and newsletter announcements.
